Gratitude

How many times do we take a minute or second and think about what we have been given? We have been given so much more than we could ever imagine.  for example our bodies have you ever take a moment and just thank the Lord for a breath of life, the ability to see, the ability to walk! Well today I had to reflect because of the excruciating pain I felt after going to the gym and strain my hip. Sleeping was a nightmare, just to push my leg to the accelerator was painful and I realised that I took my body for granted.

I did not appreciate what a privilege it is to have full body parts that work and always supports you. I wanted to share with you an article that I have read about gratitude found in the Success article.

Ultra-successful people, on the other hand, utilize a science-backed method to remain at top performance levels.

Being in a grateful state gives you deeper meaning and value to everything that occurs in your life. Furthermore, gratitude leads you to a generally happier disposition which impacts the way you perform. This is also supported by science — psychology research found that gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with an individual’s greater happiness. It causes one to feel positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.

Therefore, gratitude increases your chances to succeed as you strive to become better at what you do.

As Oprah Winfrey put it: “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

On the other hand, if you fail to be thankful, you have the tendency to maintain a negative mindset, which will deeply hamper your growth.

Thankfully, there are simple ways to promote a grateful character in order to contribute to your future success — no matter how tough life gets.

Make it a constant practice to produce that positive change within you with these tips:

Create a Gratitude List

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledges this trait as an important aspect of his success. In fact, during Facebook’s 10th year anniversary, he revealed how he challenged himself to write a thank you note each day because he believes it is a way to make things better.

It may be a stretch to hand each person a thank you note but you can start by habitually writing down things that you feel grateful for. It could be a mix of people, material things, achievements, etc. that inspired you to work harder for your goals. Like Oprah Winfrey, you could go back to your list and see how much you have to be thankful for even in moments when you feel discouraged.

Remember Your Failures

While it is in our nature to fear failure, we can turn it around by using it as a tool to be more grateful in life. When we remember our hardships, the challenges we faced, or the moments we were defeated, we think about how far we have come, and all the help we received along the way.

By thinking about how you failed, it teaches you humility and drives you to go back to the core reasons on why you have been chasing success. It’s important to learn from past mistakes and of course move on from it.

“99% of success is built on failure.” — Charles Kettering, Founder of Delco

Control Your Thoughts

Sometimes, our brain manipulates us to think about the ‘what ifs’ or the ‘what could have been’ scenarios. Dwelling on these thoughts will leave you feeling sorry about yourself which could be sabotage your productivity.

Train your mind to think highly of your goals in life. Prioritize it in all of your decision makings and try to deviate from negativity by staying optismistic.

Forget About Self-Entitlement

While it is good to have ample trust in your skills and abilities, having too much of it, is counterproductive. If you don’t see the good in other people anymore, pause for a while and process your thoughts.

If you want to be successful, you need help from people around you. Their words of encouragement, any form of support, and appreciation are essential to your progress. Rather than attributing milestones to your own doing, think of how you can foster collaboration in your workplace.

Even legendary investor Warren Buffett displayed how he valued others in pursuit of success. In his letter to Berkshire-Hathaway shareholders, he expressed his gratitude by acknowledging that he indeed was a very fortunate man because he was surrounded by excellent and highly-talented people.

Avoid Complaining

“A person who is happy is not happy because everything is right in his life, he is happy because his attitude towards everything in his life is right.” — Sundar Pichai, Google Inc. CEO

Complaining could probably be the number one enemy of gratitude. It is a blind spot that stops you from seeing the good side of things. It slows you down when you are trying to work on something because instead of focusing on what you want to achieve, you fixate on other unnecessary factors.

It takes constant practice to fully eliminate complaining into your system. But once you lessen it, you will feel more energized to go and reach your next milestone. Find the courage to accept that you will not always be in a perfect situation but make the most out of it, and learn as much as you can for every experience.

Embrace Your Flaws

“Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.” — Napoleon Hill

Even if it sounds cliché, you have to remember that nobody is perfect. Your flaws make you unique and therefore could make you stand-out.

Instead of stressing out about your weaknesses, challenge yourself how you could become a better person by improving on your strengths. Acknowledge the fact that your flaws are part of your being so you have to live with it without harming your own self-esteem.

It takes effort to see the good in everything, but putting it into practice will bring you contentment and happiness. Once you remain in a positive state, you will then become thankful for all your achievements. And eventually, you will feel more inspired to give your 100% in all you do. Gratitude is the secret into transforming your day into a victorious one resulting to more opportunities for you to advance in life.

Where did my heart go

Today it was one of those Monday mornings where I am feeling awful. Out of nowhere my car remote control decided not to function living me car less and miserable.  I had to rely on someone to work take me which I work far from where I leave. This gave me time to reflect on my life, my past dreams and my future.  As I contemplate on what I have become and what has been. I realise that I really lost myself along the way.

One thing that made me think of that, was when we were dropping my daughter and I saw those big wonderful houses which I was so sure that one day I will own exactly one of them. As a child I had big dreams, I knew myself better than I know myself now. I had hope for a brighter future but now I am not sure who I am anymore. I found myself that I am more of a follower of other peoples dreams. I miss me, where did my heart go and when did it loose the way? How did I let myself slip away

mommy’s diaries

My mornings sometimes they tire me and leaves me overwhelmed with juggling four kids and make sure that all kids are ready for school. Especially when Henson(my husband) is not around. The one thing that I will never trade is the feelings of gratitude for having them in my life. No matter what life throws at me, my kids keep me going.

I often wake up and help Simphiwe with dressing up, my 10 year old son who has Special needs. Then I take a bath with my youngest daughter Sadie, ( we call her Sne) I love bathing with Sadie. I like the expression in her face when I splash my face with water in my face and then she also does the same thing.

I like the feelings I feel when I’m doing things with my kids. It makes me realize how lucky I am to have kids to have experience the things that I experience with them. Feelings I never thought would make me feel the feelings I feel when I serve them. I am eternally grateful for the joys of motherhood.

$100 Challenge

Well…I have started my new semester and I have enrolled for Small Business Creation, which is very much interesting. I  have read a book so far and I had to come up with a business plan on how to start a business with only $100. I have also learned that you need to work on your business not just in it. One of the articles that I reads:

Working in your business means you remain an active part of the daily operation of the store. As a wise business owner, you should seek to find a balance between these extremes—between working too much on the details of the business and not working in the business at all. If you focus solely on the day-to-day tasks of the business, or on no part of the business at all, your business cannot grow and will likely fail. To prevent this failure, you must work not only in your business but also on your business.

I will try in my business to make a balance between home and family. I have already felt the pain of not being home most of the times because of the work I do and I feel bad and sorry for my kids because my passion lies at home

Stake Conference (Temples)

On Sunday we had a spiritually filled Stake Conference. Our Leaders they were addressing us about the importance of the temple and going to the temple . One thing that really touched my heart was, that the Lord wont put you in a place where he does not have a purpose for you. They said so many things that spoke to my heart and I felt the spirit speak to me several times. I was touched by many messages that was shared  to us in that day. One of the speakers was a young Lad who just came back from his mission Josh Greener. Josh speaks with so much conviction you can see that he was a good missionary. I said a small prayer that I hope too that one day my kids will also serve their mission as well as Josh.

I love the temple, the temple has been my beacon of hope. I draw my strength in the temple it has become my peace, my place where I find peace and strength. A place where  I need hear for my Saviour I go to the temple. It has been a place of  peace in this world where there is so much turmoil that can throw you out of the straight and narrow path. I have a strong testimony of the temple. So many times in my life I have ran to the temple. I knew at that time I needed to be there. When I go back home I find my strength renewed and I feel strengthen.

I am so happy to be born in times where the house of the Lord is available to us. Where freedom of religion is given to us. I feel privileged to leave in a land where I can go to the temple and worship my Father in Heaven freely. I am grateful for that opportunity in my life.

Acton Hero Bruce Thompson

Bruce a father of five, devoted husband. It’s not about the money, but about the people and the relationships that you form over time. He had a Lou Gehrig’s disease that made him see that family is the most important thing in life. He eventually passed on through that disease.

He said that it is important that you always  do the right thing. It may not make you any money in the present, but it will pay off big time in the long run.One bad deal may take 6 or 7 good deals to make up for it.

Business is not life but family and faith are more important and those things will leave a mark in the end

fears vs hope

Today I had to open in something that is very private and makes me want to cry every time I think about it. My fears, I have always seen myself as someone who my fears  often come to pass. In the scriptures we learn that faith dismisses fear. We are told that things they work according to the power that worked in you. Which is the power to believe and hope for good things to come.

The power to believe, the power to trust Heavenly father through your darkest thoughts. How I miss the young girl that used to be carefree a young girl who had so much hope and love that will feel the whole world. How I miss her so much she always hoped for a better future no matter and believed that the was so much to leave for and all is good. No matter how the world looked and seemed to be but I always knew that the is a better world somewhere. How I miss that carefree young girl who believe that there’s nothing impossible the future is bright as the sun. “Hello little girl where are you”? Are you still there? Is there any hope for you? how did I ever  loose you ? Oh heaven, how  I need a hug right now.
